Trump Poopbag Contest: Submit your art!
In 2015, when Donald Trump announced he was going to run for president, I had an idea: Donald Trump dog poopbags. My dad, a political cartoonist, worked for a lot of newspapers, and also a big newspaper hoarder. For much of my life, I grabbed one of his papers as I went out and walked the dog, would see if I could find his art work inside it as I was walking, and then would consider if I wanted to pick up my dog's poop with that paper. It all depended on who the caricature was of.
I own a dog training studio, School For The Dogs, and so I encounter a lot of people every day who pick up poop with little plastic bags; it's an industry that has gotten a boost from the demise of the newspaper business! Too bad that those bags didn't have any editorial content on them, I thought... So many missed opportunities for smushing faces into plastic bags, I thought... I called my dad and asked if he'd do a caricature of Donald Trump that I could put on a plastic bag. He was hesitant to create an image designed to be pushed into a pile of poop. But, he eventually acquiesced. Because it was just a gag, and it's not like the guy would actually become president...
I never thought that these baggies would matter more than my vote did. America is becoming great, indeed! I saw all the little bags of poop nicely tied up and tossed into trash cans, and I thought that it'd be nice if we could turn them into little gifts for Trump. The second edition of the Donald Trump Poopbag was born: A bag printed with the text "This dump is for Trump."
Now, this "joke" is turning three, and I'd like to open it up to others. Please submit your artwork below or visit TrumpPoopBagContest.com. Three entries will be selected as finalists, and will be posted on social media for voting on February 1.
The winner will receive 250 rolls of poopbags. Bags will be made in the USA from recycled plastic and bio-based resin.
